Taking a stand for the Dobermann: Dobermann hepatitis

Dobermanns can suffer from a severe form of hereditary liver inflammation called Dobermann hepatitis. Careful selection of parents will decrease the occurrence of the disease in the population. The Expertisecentre of Genetics of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University investigates the genetic background of this disease. Important steps have already been taken. However, further research is still needed so that we can better understand the genetic cause of Dobermann hepatitis and ensure that it is eradicated from the Dobermann population. And we could use your help for that!

Has your dog been diagnosed with Dobermann hepatitis? And would you like to contribute to our research to prevent this heritable disease in the future? You can help us by donating a blood sample for DNA research. If you provide us with your contact details below, then we will get in touch with you. With your help, we can better understand how this disease is inherited.
