*To be a mentor or ambassador for a first-generation student, you yourself do not have to be one of the first in your family to pursue higher education.

If applicable, the following questions are about your (expected) situation in the coming academic year:

Do you expect to be unavailable to participate in UP's events and activities for more than one period during the academic year, outside teaching free and holiday periods?

Preferences

An ambassador acts as a role model for first-generation students who has a positive influence on the talent development of first-generation students. For example, an ambassador gives workshops or shares example stories or life experiences for inspiration at large. An ambassador is also the face of the UP programme to the outside world.

A mentor is an approachable point of contact with individual attention for the (prospective) first-generation student and refers to the study advisor, tutor, etc. The mentor shares his/her experiences with regard to the approach to studying, orienting towards the future and making choices and ensures the transfer of practical knowledge. The mentor is a person who has an affinity with first-generation students, with whom the student can identify. This identification comes about partly through similarities in terms of personal interests, characteristics and/or preferences (e.g. hobbies, cultural background, field of study, etc.).

By signing up, I consent that University Pioneers may use my data to match me with a student on that basis and may use it for any statistics. In addition, project staff and mentors or ambassadors may receive my email address and phone number to contact me as part of the UP community. I know that participation in the fun and educational community meetings with other participants of the programme is on a voluntary basis, but that as an ambassador I may be expected to be asked to organise an event, training or workshop. In addition, it is possible to be paired as a mentor to a first-generation student for a certain period without obligation and that participation also amounts to attending a mentor training course. *
